Q: How can I configure DeltaCopy/rsync to work on a different TCP/IP port?

A: See http://www.aboutmyip.com/AboutMyXApp/DisplayFAQ.do?fid=20:

"By default rsync listens on port 873. To change this default behavior, you need to change this setting in DeltaCopy server as well as the client.

Changing listening port in DeltaCopy server
You need to modify deltacd.conf file to change the TCP/IP port. Open this file in any editor, such as Notepad, and type a new line as follows:

port = 10873

The final file should look something like:

strict modes = false
use chroot = false
port = 10873

[MyBackup]

path = /cygdrive/c/data
comment = General backup
read only = false
auth users =
secrets file =

Save the file and restart DeltaCopy service.

Changing listening port in DeltaCopy client
Follow the steps below to change port in DeltaCopy client.

  • Start DeltaCopy client and select a desired profile on the left
  • Select the Options tab
  • Type the following in the text box for Additional Parameters
    --port=10873
  • Test the newly changed configuration
